Collection and Portfolio Curation

Whether you are a novice with little idea of when and how to start or  a seasoned collector specifically looking for a watch or seeking to restructure your collection, Rare & Fine Vintage Watches is here to help you. We have supported clients across Asia, the US and Europe in placing both “commercial” as well as “trophy” pieces in private collections. As part of our high level of assistance in building a world-class watch collection, we adhere to an “open-book” approach.

Not only are we able to help you build your collection or source a single watch, but we can also maintain and monitor your collection. In this, we will work closely with you to build a meaningful watch collection that reflects the progress and development of your changing life, taste and interests, whilst creating a coherent, curated collection. We will be able to offer guidance at watch auctions and assist with appraisals and negotiations. Our well established processes can assist in:

  • Organization of logistics after the decision to acquire a watch
  • Presentation of watches
  • Insurance of your “Rare & Fine” watch collection.

Typically, we will arrange a face-to-face meeting to fully understand your needs and objectives. This will also allow us to get to know you as collector including a deeper understanding of your tastes, aspirations and interests. Frequently we also take our clients on research trips to auctions and events so that they can discuss preferences and explore ideas. We also connect our clients to likeminded collectors around the globe that will make your passion even more lively if you wish. One of our key aims is to build long-term relationships with our clients. Rare & Fine Vintage Watches guides its clients to the best watches available on the market – with private dealers, at auction and with private collectors. To minimize potential conflicts of interest with our main business – selling rare and fine vintage watches, we disclose our own inventory and interests in any recommendation we are giving and disclose any potential conflict that might arise from our recommendations.

Valuation

Whether you own one or a collection of watches, you have inherited some pieces or just need to adjust your insurance for your collection, Rare & Fine Vintage Watches is able to provide you with a detailed valuation of your treasured timepieces. To do this, we always physically inspect the watches, either at our offices or at the client’s premises, and prepare a written valuation report. To determine a fair and reasonable price for a specific watch, Rare & Fine Vintage Watches uses its vast database to draw price comparisons with other similar watches that have been recently sold at either auction or privately as well as pieces that are available on the market. Over the last decade we have build an extensive database on realised prices, sold watches and conditions of watches that enables us to apply a fact base approach.

Brokerage / Auction Management

Some clients might not have experience in buying and selling watches or in consigning (or purchase) at auctions and some don’t wish to be directly involved in these processes. Rare & Fine Vintage Watches takes over the complete process of selling (and buying) your watch or your collection in the most discrete yet successful way. We can help them find the perfect channel, whether a private sale, B2B or auction house. We can further assist in finding the perfect location, region, timing and even positioning in auction catalogues. We negotiate estimates and reserves and make sure clients’ watches are properly marketed across multiple channels. We can also manage and arrange all payments, through Rare & Fine Vintage Watches, in the name of and with absolute discretion and anonymity for our clients.
